Kerri Chandler – Spaces & Places
A global celebration of club and sound system culture.
Case Study
Inspiring thoughts and life experiences that transcend both the dancefloor and music.
Released in September 2022, ‘Spaces and Places’ is the new album from house music icon Kerri Chandler. Neighbourhood was appointed by Kerri Chandler and Labelworx to present and launch his first album in over 14 years.
A global celebration of club and sound system culture, Spaces and Places has been meticulously created by the New Jersey producer/DJ over several years on location at twenty-four of the world’s most distinguished nightclubs; each track built on the space’s individual relationship with Kerri, often through decades of live shows or appearances and in the process capturing unique rhythmic and emotional nuances.
Continuing to champion one of dance music’s most respected and authentic figures, and a true originator of the deep house genre, the campaign commenced in March 2022 with Neighbourhood delivered coverage across a wide variety of media launched with a powerful in-depth and insightful keynote talk at International Music Summit (IMS) 2022
For an album created with such an immersive vision; Neighbourhood forged a deeper relationship with Dolby by delivering film and content that captured a shared innovation covering both the musical and technological.
Filmed in New York, the team at Dolby shared the same personal energy for capturing how atmos adds colour and dimension to Kerri’s productions.
From March through November, Spaces and Places has been extensively covered across the dance music sector, seeing Kerri feature as Beatportal’s ‘Artist Of The Month’ along with taking part in substantial multi-page print interviews with Disco Pogo Magazine and DJ Mag USA and DJ Mag UK respectively.

Neighbourhood ensured that each publication was offered in-depth access to Kerri to allow the opportunity for media to create individual and unique content and fully explore the inner workings of the approach to releasing one of his most ambitious projects to date. From interviews with Billboard to Groove Magazine, Mixmag, The Vinyl Factory and DJ Mag Italia, to Resident Advisor’s full album review, all significant music media covered Spaces and Places.

Kerri’s poignant story ultimately transferred into wider media sectors, seeing statement interviews being placed with The Guardian, global-leading business title Forbes and flag-ship fashion publication Vogue Italia.

Outside of music media, it was important for us to capture Kerri’s technical skillset which led to working with Meridian by Mercury; an independent publication on founders and the entrepreneurial spirit, dedicated to the world of technology and the humans that make it; approached with curiosity and interest. We arranged a deep dive feature interview around his technical accuracy and his layers upon layers of perfectionism.

For over three decades, Kerri Chandler has developed a close friendship with both Glasgow’s Sub Club and its boss Michael Grieve, one born out of a mutual love of electronic music and the culture it’s deeply entrenched in. It all made perfect sense that Sub Club would feature on Kerri’s album.
To celebrate, Neighbourhood partnered with a global brand that not only shares strong regionalised cultural values but has the ability to elevate them to a whole new level. Inspiring thoughts and life exeriences that transcend both the dancefloor and music.
Simple but powerful storytelling at the heart of a community audience; An evening with Kerri Chandler with END.
To mark the second instalment in END. Talks, an ongoing series which sees prominent cultural figures invited to their flagship stores to discuss thoughts and ideas, Kerri Chandler headed north of the border to the retailer’s Glasgow store for a deeply personal and very entertaining conversation from arguably house music’s greatest storyteller.

“Spaces & Places” earned spots in end of year album round up features with Resident Advisor, Forbes, Ibiza Spotlight & Groove.
Bringing the campaign to a close during his visit to ADE – Amsterdam, Kerri not only played a special in-store DJ Set at Rush Hour Records but took attendees through the creation process of the album by delivering an informative and powerful talk focused on his forward-thinking creative choices.
