Iceland’s Bjarki is considered to be one of the the most intriguing artists you’ll find in contemporary electronic music. After a number of years releasing singles and experimental EP’s on techno labels his first full album landed via !K7 Records.

Building on our artist PR representation, not only did Neighbourhood introduce and assist in establish a new label relationship for Bjarki with the Berlin based !K7 but were the chosen agency to handle such a uniquely complex artist and environmental-led narrative.

The album was first presented via a YouTube fly on the wall documentary with Waveshaper TV that captured his field recording techniques with Icelands nature.

Leading music titles Mixmag and DJ Mag both covered the album with long form print feature interviews in which they each travelled to meet with Bjarki on Icelandic soil. This approach of access and context allowed Bjarki to discuss the environment that shaped him and those around him, musically and otherwise.

In a rare personal media engagement Bjarki also curated an episode of XLR8R+, penning a personal essay recalling his earliest memories of the Icelandic scene in addition to creating a sound pack of samples recorded in Iceland. Other highlights include Clash Magazine, NTS and Noctis also conducting personal interviews in which he opens up on the melancholy of his musical life…
