Sigma embrace independence with new label “Day Ones”

Sigma return to their drum’n’bass roots with new label “Day Ones” and first single “Chargie”.

Refreshed and independent, Sigma are stepping into 2025 with a new label, new music, and the plan to rebuild a new legacy on the dnb foundations they laid over a decade ago. Featuring the vocals of UK grime icon Scrufizzer and the legendary Jamakabi, “Chargie” is a statement of intent for the duo who are embracing the genre that brought them together almost 20 years ago.

We wanted to create something that reflects where drum’n’bass is now but still has that gritty energy that drew us to the genre in the first place. Leaning into the darker sound of their early releases, “Chargie” is big track in every sense that fuses Sigma’s signature anthemic sound with the razor-sharp relevance of current club tastes – a fusion of 90s jungle with flavours of jump up and dancehall; an up-to-date reimagining of their breakout sounds, and a deliberate reminder that it was tracks like “El Presidente” and “Rudeboy” that helped put them on the map.

Thrust into the major label machine a decade ago, Sigma’s subsequent success undeniably defined them as powerhouse producers, but the double-edged sword of this breakneck journey under the microscope of the public eye left the pair’s original creative vision for the Sigma project somewhat blurred.

Now, it’s time for a day-one reset.

Enlisting new and underground talent and taking things back to basics at every level has been paramount for Joe and Cameron – an empowering attitude that permeates the label ethos, forthcoming tour dates, and a multitude of releases lined up for 2025.

Looking back to the iconic club cuts that helped put Sigma on the map at the start of their career and caught the attention of labels like Breakbeat Kaos, Bingo Beats, and Hospital, “Day Ones” is a message from one of the most influential artists in drum’n’bass: “we’re back”.
