Lattice 002 is the second of a series forthcoming on Mesh curated by acclaimed musician, sound designer and creative Max Cooper and platform Mesh featuring formidable newcomers, Pleizel and machìna.
The release artwork has been created by Colin Droz, Mesh resident designer.
Launched in 2023 the Lattice project invites artists and producers to stretch the boundaries of their creativity, offering listeners an auditory experience that blends cutting-edge electronic beats with references from across the musical spectrum.
Opening the proceedings is a glistening new cut from Pleizel, starting off with still piano chords that ricochet through vast echoes, gradually progressing into a sparse improv over stripped-back percussion.
Next up, Blomfelt & Narby’s ‘Tennis On Telegraph Hill’ featuring Jinju Uncia fuses heartfelt keys and vocal licks over fragments of UKG. Turning into a more maximal space, label head Max Cooper offers up a pointillist, broken-beat inflected dose of electronica with ‘Gated Thoughts’.
machìna’s ‘1 Percent’ sits somewhere between coldwave and IDM, pairing distant vocals with mechanic analogue drum workouts.
Rounding off the release, Nicolas Bougaïeff skews the quantizer for a mind-expanding new slice of unconventional techno, with spiralling triplets cascading over warm bass and an unrelenting kick.
The release is available for free download/pay what you want from Bandcamp for one week only.
