Fraser T Smith presents the latest offering under his Future Utopia moniker

Fraser T Smith – the multi-award-winning, internationally acclaimed artist, producer, songwriter and musician releases the next single under his Future Utopia moniker. Sampling Queen Latifah’s 1989 classic Dance For Me, Queen L is out now via 70Hz Recordings.

As Future Utopia, Fraser T Smith is unrestrained by genre boundaries and creatively free to blur the lines across a vast musical spectrum.

Born out of a love and admiration for U.S hip-hop royalty from Run DMC to Public Enemy, Queen Latifah and more, whilst also signalling electronic influences including New Order, Queen L is the latest offering from Fraser T Smith’s eclectic Future Utopia project.

Sampling Queen Latifah’s Dance For Me over a beat which nods to elements of early techno, electro and breakbeat, Dance For Me is taken from the 1989 album All Hail the Queen which rose to popularity in the U.S and peaked at no. 6 on the Billboard Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums chart.

As Fraser T Smith, he is one of the most in demand creators in contemporary music today. Having produced and written for some of the biggest artists in the world including Adele, Stormzy, Sam Smith, Florence and the Machine, Drake, Gorillaz, Kano, Dave and more, Smith’s accolades include producing seven Number 1 singles in the UK, two Billboard Number 1 singles in the US, along with contributing to eighteen Number 1 albums.

Under the moniker Future Utopia, 2020 saw him release his debut album 12 Questions which featured collaborations with a remarkable list of artists and friends including Stormzy, Dave, Kano, Ghetts, Bastille, Es Devlin, Simon Armitage and Idris Elba. The album discussed issues including faith, freedom, race, gender, wealth, equality and ecology – all born from Fraser’s own anxieties about the world today, the track Children Of The Internet, his collaboration with Dave, won the Ivor Novello Award for ‘Best Contemporary Song’. The win is the latest plaudit for a creative partnership between Smith and Dave that has seen the pair win two previous Ivor Novello Awards in 2018 and 2020.

Following the success of 12 Questions which was championed by The Guardian, NME, Mixmag, CLASH Music, GQ and many more, 2021 saw Smith return as Future Utopia to release 12 Questions After Dark – an electronic take on his latest body of work featuring remixes from Future Utopia himself, HAAi, I. JORDAN, Franky Wah and UNKLE, 12 Questions After Dark saw Smith embark on a new path, exploring his love of electronic music.

After the release of his earlier summer single Love Is All There Is, Future Utopia returned in September with Never Gonna Get It – a collaborative single with the celebrated Swedish electronic artist DJ Seinfeld, Never Gonna Get It continues to pick up support from BBC Radio 1, 6Music, KISS FM and more.

Over the coming months, Future Utopia will continue to release a string of new music, with each track also accompanied by an ‘After Dark Remix’. A conceptual continuation from his 12 Questions After Dark album, the After Dark remixes are club-focused versions which will be finding their way into the DJ sets of Future Utopia and his peers.
