“We're thrilled to announce the four incredible composers chosen to take part in our Philip Glass: Refractions project"

PRS for Music, the organisation which represents the rights of over 160,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers worldwide, partnered with Dunvagen Music Publishers and record company Orange Mountain Music to launch ‘Refractions’, a unique composer development initiative for PRS members, inspired by the music of legendary composer, Philip Glass.

The ‘call for works’ saw PRS for Music search for composers to respond creatively to Glass’ influential body of work and engage with the theme ‘refraction’. The composers created original compositions and sound worlds as they explored new meanings in Philip Glass’ music.

The four successful composers, Dan Samsa, NikNak, Carmel Smickersgill and Felix Taylor will now be commissioned by Glass’ publisher, Dunvagen Music Publishers, to write an original 5-6 minute composition using Philip Glass source material and have their finished compositions released on a digital EP by Orange Mountain Music, the record company created to serve fans and aficionados of Philip Glass.

They will also take part in a dedicated online mentoring session from Robert Ames, Co-Artistic Director of the London Contemporary Orchestra.
