Artist Artur Weber creates an immersive symphony powered by water
Curated by the Neville Wakefield and Maya Al Athel, “Inner Waves” located with inside the Jax District in Diriyah is the latest showcase by Estonian-Australian artist Artur Weber – a hypnotic and reflective auditory-tactile journey at Noor Riyadh’s Light Festival Exhibition, Refracted Identities, Shared Futures.
By harnessing the power of water, visitors to the immersive exhibition can interact with the sculptural installation bridging the gap between the tangible and the ethereal in turn redefining the boundaries of interactive art.
The viewer is invited to touch the instrument’s surface, consisting of several water-filled vessels. The interaction between the water within the viewer’s body and the water inside the installation triggers it to play sounds, filling the space with music and light.
What distinctively sets ‘Inner Waves’ apart l is its reliance on the viewer’s physiology – as visitors interact with the installation, the water within their bodies harmonizes with the liquid essence of the artwork.
