Case Study

Paul Kalkbrenner collaborated with the Kiev based production house behind HBO/Sky’s critically acclaimed TV mini-series Chernobyl on incredible new music video

Originally released as part of the 2018 LP Parts of Life, the celebrated German live electronic artist Paul Kalkbrenner collaborated with the Kiev based production house behind HBO/Sky’s critically acclaimed TV mini-series Chernobyl, on an accompanying cinematic music video.

Hitting the screens in 2019; Neighbourhood was appointed by Sony Music and worked in conjunction with Paul Kalkbrenner, B1 Recordings, director Taisia Deeva and Radioaktive Film to present the project as an artistic and narrative-lead music video, telling the powerful story of a patriarchal and totalitarian community living in an isolated place after the death of the oldest man, their leader.

The cornerstones of the campaign saw Neighbourhood secure coverage which launched the video with leading digital video channel and website NOWNESS who premiere the best in global arts and culture across art, design and culture. Exploring the production and creative process behind the music video and the vision of director Taisia Deeva, specialist film and cinema website Directors Notes published an in-depth feature highlighted by behind-the-scenes images of the shoot in Kiev.

Throughout the campaign and 1.6 Million YouTube views later, Neighbourhood ensured that the key supporters of Paul’s music all covered the video, with news and features being published across all specialist titles including Mixmag to DJ Mag and Resident Advisor.
